(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Speedway and Gaston Racing Enterprises have partnered to boost the purse for the previously scheduled 20 lap Street Stock feature by $1,000. The extra money will be distributed across the top 15 with the winner receiving a $350 base purse and total of $450 after all contingency bonuses while 2nd, 3rd, and 4th will receive $200, $185, and $170 respectively.
“The Street Stock division has had some great action so far this year,” explained Stafford General Manager Mark Arute. “We are really focused on building our ladder program and that starts with the Street Stocks. Bill Gaston of Gaston Racing Enterprises wanted to put up some money and we both agreed it made sense to put it on the Street Stocks. What really gets me excited about the Street Stock division is that there are so many new drivers and teams that have come to race with us at Stafford. We’re hoping this extra purse along with the big 30 lap Street Stock race in September pushes more teams to join us and race the half-mile weekly.”
Through the first 11 races of the 2018 season the division has seen 7 different winner’s and 37 different drivers compete. Wild Thing Kart Series graduate, Brandon Michael leads the championship point standings over rookie Meghan Fuller, George Bessette Jr, and Nicole Chambrello. Team’s will have July 27th circled on the calendar in hopes of grabbing the extra cash courtesy of Bill Gaston of Gaston Racing Enterprises.
“Street Stocks are one of my favorite divisions at Stafford,” said Bill Gaston of Gaston Racing Entereprises. “I’ve seen what Mark and the team have been doing with raising the purses and hosting some special events for the Street Stocks and I wanted to join in, heck, almost makes me want to get a Street Stock.”
