(Stafford Springs, CT)---The 9th annual CARQUEST SK 150, scheduled for Friday, July 20 at Stafford Motor Speedway, will feature total posted awards of over $25,000, making the event one of the most lucrative races anywhere in the northeast for the 2012 season.  The race will feature a brand new format this season with the race being broken up into twin 75-lap feature events.  If a driver can win both legs of the CARQUEST SK 150, that driver has the possibility to take home a total of $3,800.

Each 75-lap feature will pay $1,750 to win, plus there will be two Call Before You Dig first place contingency bonuses worth a total of $300.  If a driver wins both 75-lap races and has a Call Before You Dig decal on their car, they will go home with $3,800 in winnings from the CARQUEST SK 150.  Additional contingency awards will be put up by New England Race Fuel, who will supply a $50 product bonus to each third place finisher and a $25 product bonus to the top-3 finishing cars using the Stafford Speedway SK Modified® Spec Engine in each feature event.  The Call Before You Dig and New England Racing Fuel contingency bonuses brings the total posted awards for the 9th Annual CARQUEST SK 150 up to $25,310.  Drivers must have contingency decals from each contingency sponsor on their cars to receive the contingency bonus and drivers must use Sunoco Race Fuel in order to receive the New England Race Fuel product bonuses.

The 9th Annual CARQUEST SK 150 will start 30 cars and pays $150 to start each race, while 10th place will pay $500 in each race.  The purse increases by $50 for each position from 9th place to 3rd place for each feature, while second place pays $1,100 for each feature.  The payout for 11th place is $450 for each feature, and from positions 12 through 16, the purse decreases by $50 per position for each feature event. 

In 8 previous CARQUEST SK 150 events at Stafford, there have been five different race winners: Ted Christopher (2000, 2001), Ronnie Silk (2002), Frank Ruocco (2003, 2009, 2010), Woody Pitkat (2008), and Keith Rocco (2011).  When it comes to SK Modified® extra distance events at Stafford, several drivers stand out.  In six previous CARQUEST SK 150 starts, Frank Ruocco has an average finish of 4.3, Woody Pitkat has an average finish of 2.8 in 4 career CARQUEST SK 150 starts, and Keith Rocco has an average finish of 7.5 in 4 career CARQUEST SK 150 starts.  With six different winners in the first 8 SK Modified® races during the 2012 season, the stage could be set for several new faces to reach CARQUEST Victory Lane.  The CARQUEST SK 150 has produced two first-time SK Modified® feature winners at Stafford with Silk’s victory in 2002 and Ruocco’s win in 2003.

The 9th annual CARQUEST SK 150 is scheduled for July 20th.  Tickets are priced at $27.50 for adult general admission, $5.00 for children ages 6-14 general admission, and Free for Children ages 5 & under.  Reserved seating is available for $30.00 for all ages.  All ticket prices include 10% CT Admission Tax.  As always, Stafford Motor Speedway offers free parking with overnight parking available.
